TS1101E – Introduction to Theatre and Drama

As my school term came to a closure, it marks the end of my first year in NUS.

I’m sure my peers would agree with me that the most time consuming module they took this semester was also their favourite. Needless to say, TS1101E is also my favourite module.

Sure… I still doesn’t like studying theories, but the practical portion of it was fun enough.

We took two and a half weeks to prepare for our final practical exam which we were required to put up a 20 minute excerpt of a well known play. We chose Six of the Best by Tan Tarn How. A local play written on the issue of racism in Singapore.

… and we only have 5 members. So it’s five of the best.

The best of the best. ;)

Set making consumes most of my time. Loads of sweat went into the making of this 3 x 3 metres newspaper-mache wall which have to be combined within a few minutes during the set up.

I still remembered during one of our rehearsal, some seniors came in while we were packing up and commented that nobody has ever put in that amount of effort for a level-1000 exposure module.

And then comes Huat, a Hokkien speaking ah being who spews vulgarities! The best part of it was that it was Surendran who played Huat. We spent a few days looking for help in the translation bit and teaching a non-Chinese Hokkien.

Tried very hard not to laugh during rehearsal. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Can’t seem to be really immersed in the character. FAIL FAIL FAIL!

But anyhow, I’m deeply grateful for the efforts put into this dramatic performance by my team mates – Surendran, Gilchrist, Priscella and Gavin, despite the fact that TS1101E was not their core module. Most importantly, through it all we managed to forge a genuine friendship in this 2.5 weeks.

This may be the end of experiencing theatre for some of them, but it’s definitely the start for me. 2 more years to go! Go go go!

Of School, Pre-CNY and a Messy Room

Actually I’m pretty active on twitter and instagram these days. You can follow me if you want. ;)

CNY is just around the corner and we went to the nursery to get flowers! I was completely lost in the myriad of chrysanthemums… of all sorts of colors and types. Here’s one:

Below is called Zinnia.

I find purple and orange chrysanthemums really beautiful.

Attended L’Oreal Revitalift X3 Product Launch (will be launching in March, hence I will get around to blogging it before the launch ya):

Spotted a crane on the way to school:

I got back one of my assignment! It is an autobiography about myself. 3.75/5 and a lot of weird symbols that are called the “chicken scratches”.

Yesterday, my lecturer from the Social Work module took out her guitar and sang a song for us:

I always look forward to the two hour drama lesson every Wednesday. Like what my tutor would say… this is a safe zone for us to make mistakes.

Also attended Renny’s gig at the Esplande’s Outdoor Theatre:

Pre-CNY shopping!

And here comes the tiring part for every CNY preparation: Spring Cleaning

I’m a really messy person when I work. Things lie around and I don’t bother to pick them up. If I can still have a bed to sleep at the end of the day, I wouldn’t mind the messiness at all.

Last I cleared my room was 3 months ago.

Managed to clear, vacuumed and cleaned the room in two and a half hours:

Books are back in their original place!

Desk is relatively empty now!

Happy Chinese New Year guys!

Life updates

School is a bitch, seriously.

I’m about to finish my first semester of school. By then I would be a free bird… for a few months.

I promise I will post up the remaining reviews in the coming weeks. In a slower pace as I have essays to rush. BUT, rest assured they will be posted up.

And recently I’ve changed some of my skin care products which I will be sharing. My new skincare regime is awesome. My friends have all noticed the changes! I will be sharing that, soon.

Soon.

Everything is going to be over. Need to hang on to whatever strength that is left.

Instagram pictures about school

As you all know, school has already started five weeks ago for me. Next week will be the sixth and then there will be a one week recess week!

School is exciting, but there are a lot of things for me to read. It’s very tiring. For this semester, I took up Marketing, Sociology, Authoritarianism (Politics, in case you don’t know), Chinese Studies, Chinese Heritage & Literature and a complusory English module on Academic Writing.

CCKSS Family Carnival

It seems more like a meet up with secondary school friends and teachers rather than enjoying the fun fair. It’s not fun at all anyway.

I still kinda remember how my class 4/5 used to make fun of Mr Lee during PE lessons.

With Simin, my classmate and close friend in school.
She make me look so short by wearing wedges! So unfair! :(

With Mei Foong! I’m so glad I met her in Drama Club.

There are a lot more pictures we took like with our favorite English teacher Mdm Prema, Mr Kong and Mr Tan Wee Liat.

I kinda miss the school because of things we do in school. Secondary school days are always the time where people do stupid things. Ha-ha-ha~

Study Dilemma

I’ve been thinking about this for quite sometime already. I’ve talked about it with my friends, colleagues and my family so I might as well make it official.

I seriously don’t know what to study in University.

I always thought I am a person who knows what she wants, but apparently not. I have totally know idea where to go now because I am not sure if I should continue to study landscape architecture. I feel that it doesn’t suit me at all.

And I know right… It’s kind of a waste not to do this field. What for I studied so hard to get top in the cohort, only to say that I wanna go a different route now? Because the thing is, I don’t know if I can do this permanantly.

Becoming a lawyer is my childhood dream. I would go to the library and read up reference books on law. I planned my route and decided to give up when I found out that I need to enter JC to get to uni.

I also wanna study journalism related field because I like writing. But I cannot picture myself typing the whole day. Soon I will dislike blogging because of it.

Psychology and sociology sounds great to me, but it’s out of my reach because I failed maths.

I also like teaching… But I just don’t know what can I teach. Drama? Art? I know Drama is a kind of job that is stressful but at least I get to move around and not sit infront of the comp typing whole day till my wrists hurts, back aches and sometimes limping to work. At least its not making me climb hills, mountains under the hot sun.

And at least I kind of feel lucky to realise it doesnt suit me now, than to realise it after I completed my degree.

The problem is, where should I go now?

Graduation Ceremony

Pssst… I finally received my first flower from boyfriend!

My boyfriend looks so handsome today!

My lecturer Mr Idris (bottom right) looked so composed and handsome today!

With my third year lecturer Miss Emily!

There were a lot of things happened today but I managed to get my cert! I was so afraid that I fall on the stage hahaha.

Anyway to all my classmates, thank you so much for being there and cheer for me on stage. Thanks for all the times we shared and good luck for your future!

Thanks to all my close friends in poly, all my lecturers and my family for their unwavering support!

Lastly, thanks to my secondary school teacher Ms Lim Cui Fang and Vice principal (I didn’t catch his name) for taking their time to come down… (even though I still don’t like you Miss Lim, but anyway thanks!)

I’m one step closer to my goal… maybe not?

I’m in the midst of a scholarship interview and preparing for it is the worst of my life besides O’levels (I swear).

I just don’t understand why in the world would I need complicated Math like analyzing stock prices and converting currencies when I’m applying for a government scholarship at a place filled with plants?
Anyway… I practically didn’t touch Math for 3 years and I seriously forgot my calculations, especially the ones with decimal points.

Everytime when I miscalculated something I feel like I’m terribly stupid and regretted not studying harder for Math. Seriously hope that I don’t die at this round just because I’ve given back everything I learnt to the school.

AHHHHHHHH.

:(

I know I shouldn’t feel upset because there are other classmates who didn’t do as well as me, but I just can’t help it.

Now I understand why my friend Yu Zhi cried when her O’level grades couldn’t make it to NJC.

p/s: I’m fine now.

At Last!

The work has finally been submitted after going through the ups and downs during CNY!

I got super duper kan cheong at my Ah Ma’s house because my laptop CRASHED just after a few drops of green tea was spilled.
Nice.

Few drops nia. Why so lousy one?!

Anyway, all I wait for now is to present my work, go through a 20% test and wait for my GRADUATION.

SERIOUSLY CAN’T WAIT FOR IT ANY LONGER.

I’ve been dreaming about this moment where I put on my hat for years!
The moment would be lovely, I think. :)
