Singapore Blog Awards 2013

The blog awards finally ended!

The last SBA awards ceremony I attended was 2 years ago… at Shanghai Dolly. This year we are back to the same old venue again!

The theme for this year is 60’s Fever, and therefore my sister and I dressed up as 60’s as we can. Got feel? (ha-ha)

Also wore my Glossi sunglasses on my head to complete the look.

There was this instant photo booth where everyone can take pictures with the props supplied…

Finally, we concluded the day with a sumptuous meal at Brotzeit!

In conjunction with the light theme this year, there will be a Light Art Christmas Card and a series of fun filled activities held at 313@Somerset:

Light Art Christmas Card
Charlie Lim, a renowned Singapore photographer uses his technique of “light art” to design unique Christmas cards for the shoppers at 313! This method of photography uses a single source of light and paints the subject in the dark while the camera captures the image.

Hence, from now till 23 December, the first 80 shoppers each day from 12pm to 7pm who spend a minimum of $150 will have an opportunity to get their photos taken!

Roving Santa and Christmas Characters
Santa Clause, Santarinas and the Christmas characters are coming to town 313@Somerset on 7, 14, & 19 – 21 December at 6pm and 8pm and 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 & 23 December at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm!

Additionally, there will be a musical performance y the Kaze Flute Ensemble to take everyone through the melodic series of Christmas pieces performed on a flute. Catch them on 7, 14, & 19 – 21 December at 5.30pm and 7pm and 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 & 23 December at 5.30pm, 7pm and 8pm!

Recycled Ornaments Workshop
Create your own personalised ornaments for your home to spice up the festive season from now till 23 December, every Friday to Sunday at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm! Not only you can do your part for the environment by using recycled materials for making ornaments, you also can lend a helping hand to the visually handicapped this festive season! To participate, all shoppers simply need to make a donation of a minimum of $10 at Level B2. All proceeds go to the Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH). Pre-registration starts on the 5 December.

Draw it Forward Project 2012
Peter Draw, a caricature artist who earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for drawing the world’s largest caricature taught some children to draw through workshops sponsored by Great Eastern. These children will then use their newly acquired skills to draw caricature for the public. To support this project, you can make a donation for the drawings on 13 – 15 & 20 – 22 December from 12pm to 8pm. All donations proceeds to fund programmes for the under-priviledged children supported by Community Chest.

nEbo 5th Birthday Bash!

Last Saturday nEbO celebrated its 5th birthday bash at Downtown East!

I hope you guys were there at the event! For those who couldn’t make it, here are the highlights of that day!

nEbo invited Enigma, their magic interest group, to perform a series of street and stage magic to interact with the crowd for the opening act.

We were also being invited on stage for some games too!

The cast of the popular Channel 8 TV drama series On the Fringe were also present at the event!

Besides a short interview on how these up–and-coming stars cope with the work and studies, they were also invited to play charades with the audiences! Just look at how crowded the Events Square became!

Students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic held their mini flea market at the Alley at the same time.

Many interesting items such as accessories, clothing and food were sold at different stalls. There were also Orange Deals going on where an item in the bazaar was sold at a really cheap price.

Spending a minimum of $10 at the Bazaar would allow you to enter the mini lucky draw! Ju Ann was so lucky to win the first lucky draw held!

There was also a singing flash mob lead by the nEbO champions. The mob came up too sudden and surrounded us.

The most exciting part of the event was the Crazy Bidding segment! Items such as Ipod Nano and Crumpler bag were sold off starting from $5!

It was very chaotic when a group of students tried to gather whatever cash they had on them in hope to win the Razer anansi keyboard!

It was indeed a crazy experience. LOL.

Also, Youtube star Toh Yifan and FS Acoustics also sang a number of songs for us. They were also being invited to share with us their passion for music and their achievements.

Not forgetting to take a picture with the bloggers and organiser present!

If you missed the event and didn’t get a chance to sign up to become a nEbO member, click this link to sign up for it now!

Event: Kara Showcase 2012

Kara is coming to Singapore!

(Ok, I’m not a fan of kpop and probably only listen to a few kpop songs, but after listening to their single “Honey” and some other songs such as “Mister” and “Step”, I think their tunes are catchy enough to put them in my mp3 player.)

GV Jurong Point Re-opening

Jurong Point’s Golden Village cinema finally re-opened its doors today after 3 months of renovation!

GV Jurong Point offered the Jurong residents a convenient movie-viewing experience since its opening in 1995. After the $4.5 million dollar renovation, patrons can expect a more comfortable and quality movie experience from them!

Courtesy of, I was very lucky to be one of the 25 bloggers to be able to inform you about the opening of GV Jurong Point! So I brought my sis along with me!

Other than complete refurbished box office, common areas, washrooms and candy bar counter, you can also look forward to 6 fully digital cinema halls which have a total capacity of 1062 seats with 14 berths set aside for wheelchair bound patrons. Talk about universal design and accessibility! 😀

We also caught Marvel’s The Avengers as well and got a chance to experience the 7.1 Dolby Sound system with premium-grade EAW (Eastern Acoustic Works) speakers from the US, stadium seating, wall-to-wall Spectro screens and etc.

You also need to check out the awesome sightlines that cinema hall offers!

I think the best part of all is the wider and more luxurious cinema seats and wider leg room! Good news to me because I like to sit cross-legged in the cinema!

To kickstart the re-opening, Auntie Lucy made a guest appearance at GV Jurong Point and popped in to our hall for a short interview/filming with the OMY crew:

Sorry, that’s the only clear image I got of him.

(Psst, The Avengers was good! Though I wasn’t a fan of superheros but I kinda know these characters exist and was explaining to my sis who they are during the movie. I love the funny bits in some scenes! :D)
