What’s in my hygiene kit?

I went for my first gym session last Saturday and thought I would share with you the items I brought with me that day!

This kit is built by all the beauty samples that I’ve collected. I find that samples can be very useful when you are going out on a trip and you didn’t want to bring a bag full of heavy beauty products along.

Items in my pouch:
1. 24hr Moisturising Body Lotion by Nuxe
2. Super Washing Foam EX by Dr.Ci:Labo
3. L’Oréal Paris Excellence Fashion Protective Conditioner
4. Aqua Collagen Gel Super Moisture EX by Dr.Ci:Labo
5. Feminine Wash by Sebamed
6. Paul Frank Lip Balm
7. Macadamia Nut Oil for hair
8. Wide tooth comb
9. Kat Von D Roll on Perfume

This is my favourite pouch and it was given to me by my close friend, Jenny on my birthday last year!

Shampoo, body wash and conditioner were provided by the gym. However, I decided to bring along my conditioner because I am still using it for my coloured hair.

Feminine wash is the most important product on the list. You wouldn’t want to skip this after a sweaty workout.

The Kat Von D roll-on perfume is definitely my favourite product on the list. It is easy to apply on, long lasting even after a ride outside, and it smells so good.

I hope readers could also share what you would put in your hygiene kit in the comment box below! 🙂

Review: L’Oréal Excellence Fashion Hair Color

Sponsored Review

I received a bottle of L’Oréal Excellence Fashion hair dye in Ashy Nude Brown few weeks ago, but waited till after my hair cut to try it out. 😀

Ashy Nude Brown is one of the color from its new Luxurious Golds collection under the L’Oréal Excellence Fashion range. Launched this year, the Luxurious Golds collection is designed to achieve instant glamor without visiting the salon.

DIY dye job can be torturous and end up disastrous when the instructions weren’t followed carefully. I kind of like using L’Oréal Excellence Fashion hair dye because of the clear step-by-step instructions written on the box itself.

You will find the following in the box:

1. Protective Pre-color Serum
2. Protective Crème Colorant
3. Crème Developer and Comb Applicator
4. Protective Conditioner
5. Instruction Manual (in 3 languages) AND a pair of gloves inside.

Each product is labelled with number so that you can easily tell which product to use first.

Here’s a picture of my hair color before the dye job. It was mainly black and remnants from the previous dye job.

Once you mix the colorant and the developer together, switch the applicator with the comb applicator given in the box for easy application. The application requires at least 30 minutes for the color to be well developed.

After that, you can rinse off the mixture with water and apply the conditioner!

I love that the conditioner was not in a sachet but in a huge bottle. Since I can’t finish all of it at one go, I would usually use it for the next few days.

Now my hair is in a pretty shade of brown!

I really love the color now and how my hair feels. Self dye jobs can be tricky because we don’t have the tools and technology to achieve salon grade coloring. Plus, it can dry up our hair and it usually smells nasty.

What I like about L’Oréal Excellence Fashion is that the color is rich and intense even without bleaching, thanks to its Hi-Shine Complex and Hi-Intensity Complex formula. Additionally, my hair feels smooth due to the Triple-Care formula which contains Micro-Cera essence, amino acid and collagen.

The dye mixture also doesn’t smell as strong as the other dyes I’ve tried!

Where to get it:
The L’Oréal Excellence Fashion Luxurious Golds collection is now available (from August 2013 onwards) at an affordable price of $18.90 in Watsons, Guardian, major supermarkets and hypermarkets, and selected departmental stores.

It’s just hair.

I created a small commotion today because I did something to my hair.

Yes, that’s right. I I cut my locks away!

Many people went like, “OMMGGGGGGG!”, or “Nooooooooooooo” when I told them I wanna get a haircut. And all of them were females. LOL.

All I want to say is…

Relax. It is just hair. Like it or not, it will grow out.

But since it’s my virgin short haircut (I mean this short. I tried a concave bob hair before and it suck), I went to a better salon as I didn’t want to regret it.

I love it and right now I’m still very excited about my new hair because:

– My hair is manageable and doesn’t tangle up anymore
– Hair dries up easily after wash
– Showering is so much quicker now
– I don’t have to use that much shampoo and conditioner anymore
– All my dried and dyed hair ends were cut away!

How not to love my hair now?

My hair stylist, Chisato, was also laughing at my “broom” head during the process of cutting.

Here’s how I look like after the cut:

I also tried to play with my hair to see what kind of hairstyle I could do with my new haircut.

Last but not least, here’s a last picture of my long hair to end the post:

Turn offs for guys

So…. I attended a seminar on “Image for Oral Presentation” for one of my assignments last week and the speaker divided us by gender for one activity, that is to list out 10 image destroyers for both men and women.

The guys only managed to list out eight of them. But oh well, since I have the list I might as well post them so that girls of my age can know what the guys are thinking.

The list compiled is not in order of importance.

1) Untidy Hair
Fringe or hair that covers the face is a no-no. The guys prefers girls to look clean and fresh.

2) Revealing Clothes
Thumbs down for low cuts and translucent chiffon tops.

3) Bright Coloured Hair
They said that if you are Asian, then look like one. Blonde hair for Asians are big no-nos.

4) Huge Earrings
Self explanatory.

5) Too many Piercings
Self explanatory as well.

6) Too Shy
Shy girls need to speak up more so that they can strike up and continue a conversation. Key word is to CONTINUE a conversation.

7) Bad Postures
Walk with confidence, don’t slouch!

8) Lots of Make Up
Guys really like clean faces and minimal make up. So skip the foundation routine and opt for a light coverage such as BB cream. Also ditch your thick black eyeliner that make you look like a panda. Use a brown eyeliner instead to tightline your eyes for a natural and well defined eyes.

Some CNY pictures to share

This year’s Chinese New Year was really boring. Didn’t managed to see some of my relatives because they were either overseas or doing their round of visitations somewhere.

Anywayyyyy… I fell sick on the first day of CNY itself. Sore throat. But I recovered on the third day and started binging on the food again. And now the sore throat has came back. I guess I’m getting old and the body just can’t take much junk food as before. Nooooooooo~

I (self) dyed my hair for a new look with L’Oreal Paris Excellence Fashion, with the help of my sister. It came out in a gorgeous shade of red. BUT the color on my hair has since faded. 😦

Bought my dress from Forever 21!

Anndddd, here’s a picture with my sister. Damn. I hate taking pictures with her because her face is so sharp.

Day THREE! Lastly, here’s a picture of me in my Dad’s car.

Anyway… The reason for the lack of pictures from my awesome camera is because…

My camera charger is not working. So I’m saving the battery for an upcoming event the week after next!

So dead.

Happy V Day to all!

Organic Color Systems

Sponsored Review

As you know, I was invited to Komachi Hair Cult to try out their new range of organic hair dye.

Komachi Hair Cult is a Japanese hair salon that has a team of hair designers with more than 10 years of experience. Other than common hair salon services such as haircuts and perms, Komachi Hair Cult also offer scalp treatments and bridal makeup services.

Lately Komachi Hair Cult has recently launched a new Organic Color System, 100% free from ammonia and other harsh chemicals found in permanent hair dyes.

Look at the wide range of colors the Organic Color Systems offers! Organic Color Systems is available in 54 mixable colors, certified vegan and cruelty free, ideal for people who are vegan, had cancer or anyone with irritated scalp.

Even if you decided to go for some lighter colors that require bleaching or highlighting, the Organic Color Systems uses a bleach-free hair lightening systems without damaging your hair and scalp.

Initially I wanted to go for 8BC, a very bright copper with orangey tone. However, after hair designer Kohji Matsunaga analysed my hair and skin tone, he suggested that I go for something darker, between 6BC and 7BC, for a more natural look.

Matsunaga has over 14 years experience in this industry, and received his training in Vidal Sassoon in London.

Here’s Matsunaga and his assistant in the process of dyeing my hair!

After applying the dye onto my hair, a machine was used to heat up the dye for the color to penetrate into my hair better.

If you are wondering what’s that bunny thing on top of my head, it’s the machine!

That machine oscillates so that heat covers every inch of my head.

Look! I’m an ox now!

I was actually quite amused by the machine and took a lot of pictures of it. 😛

Now behold, freshly dyed hair picture below:

Isn’t the color amazing? I think I looked very Japanese with this color! So glad that I heeded his advice!

Matsunaga also trimmed my bangs and used a large tong to style my hair! So nice of him!

My sister also went for the hair coloring and we were very satisfied with the Organic Color System!

Review after a few days:

My hair color lightens every time I wash my hair and it has now became much lighter than how it looked back at the salon, which I was already informed by the hair designers.

Hair Color After 3 Days

However I do notice that I’m starting to experience dandruff on my scalp, which I didn’t have that problem previously. But since I’m currently on medication that caused my skin to dry up, hence I believe that the hair colouring was just a trigger to the dandruff problem.

Other people shouldn’t have the problem that I’m experiencing. But people whose scalps are easily irritated should also be careful somehow.

After hair coloring, it is important to use shampoos that helped lock the colours in place, followed by hair masks and conditioners as hair dyes can also be quite drying.

If you’re going to think that organic hair coloring is expensive, you’re wrong! It is about $100 for a full head color! Very affordable! For the full price list, please refer to this chart here:
