01 LANEIGE Water Bank Gel Cream_EX
Why I love it? This gel cream is very light and moisturising! It feels heavier than a sleeping mask when I tried it, but it quickly spreads and turns watery. It is also quick in absorption and leaves my skin semi-matte without that sticky feeling!
02 Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid eyeliner
Why I love it? It’s ability to stay on the skin all day due to its smudge-proof formula!
04 LANEIGE White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack
Why I love it? My favourite to-go sleeping mask! Shaped like a tiny disposable contact lens pack, it is great when you need a quick fix over the night because it’s so easy to slot it anywhere.
04 Beauty Blender Pure
Why I love it? The classic beauty blender but it’s white! It is suitable for sensitive skin users like me because a white colour beauty blender means there are no dye on this product! It is so soft and great for any liquid/cream products!
05 LANEIGE BB Cushion SPF50+ PA+++
Why I love it? It provides a light coverage with great SPF factor, so it doubles up as my sunscreen for my sensitive skin. When applied on to the skin, there is a cooling sensation and it feels like I’ve slathered some moisturiser onto my skin! It also gives me that dewy Korean look. But most importantly, it does not break me up.
Note: This is a non-sponsored post and I bought everything here with my own money.
This step-by-step tutorial is classified as part of the full makeup routine (without the eyes and lips), and it teaches you how to effectively sculpt a face for events and photographs. If you want to look good on photographs and in person without having to photoshop your photographs, then this tutorial is for you.
In order to effectively demonstrate this #NoPhotoshop effect, these photos are not edited or airbrushed on Photoshop.
Moisturiser helps to prep your skin for layers of makeup as it keeps your skin hydrated, prevent foundation from blocking pores and helps in the staying power of the foundation.
Primer works like a moisturiser by creating a layer to separate the foundation and your skin. Adding primer on top of the moisturiser helps to ensure your makeup stays longer on your skin.
These days, primers also comes in different colours to help even skin tone.
For example, people with redness and acne on the face can use a green primer as it helps cancel out redness on skin. Purple primer can use to brighten up our skin tone but should only be used on areas such as the t-zone instead of the entire face.
You can also choose primers that adhere to other needs such as minimise wrinkles and fine lines, or healing benefits for acne-prone skin.
I like to use a light and moisturising primer without a lot of silicon on my skin as silicon tends to break me out.
If you own a liquid foundation or BB cream, it should come before applying concealer. However, the steps should be switched if you are using a powdered foundation instead.
A foundation helps to cover, conceal and evens out the texture of the skin.
BB cream is marketed as a makeup product with skincare benefits, therefore it is lighter and provide lesser coverage than a foundation.
Choose a foundation colour that matches your skin tone. Do not use shades lighter than your skin colour as it will “grey out” your skin. If you are unsure, ask a professional at the store for help.
Less is More
One rule to observe when using foundation/bb cream is to apply a thin layer on the skin, then add additional foundation on certain areas when you need extra coverage.
The same rule applies to powder foundation as it makes the makeup looks less cakey.
Use a patting motion whenever you apply any liquid items on your skin. Never swipe.
Concealers has a higher coverage than foundation and should only be used on area when you need extra coverage. It is not meant to replace a foundation, but you can also skip the foundation and spot conceal your skin instead for a lighter makeup look.
Concealers are also never meant to erase any spots or broken capillaries on your skin, but to lighten them.
Under eye concealer tends to be more moisturising than a regular concealer and can be used for the entire face as well.
Use a darker shade of concealer for contour + concealing, and a lighter shade for highlighting.
If you are using a liquid or cream based concealer on an acne prone skin with a lot of redness and marks to cover, use the pointy end of a beauty blender and dab on the concealer for quick concealing.
Do not use a swiping motion as you will “wipe off” any concealer you just applied.
Whenever you apply something liquid on your skin, use a powder to set it in place. Therefore, a setting powder is required to ensure your liquid foundation and concealer don’t settle into the fine lines or slide off your skin in the middle of the day.
For power foundation, this is not required as the foundation already act as a setting powder. Otherwise, you can use either a loose powder or finishing pact to set the makeup.
Loose powders can be applied lightly with a powder brush or with a sponge. On places where you’ve just concealed, use a sponge and roll the powder onto those areas to effectively set them. Do not swipe (or even dab) with a brush as you might remove all your previous efforts to conceal.
Choose a finely milled powder for a natural look.
A good tip on application can be found here in this video:
Blusher helps to add colours back onto the face. Choose any blusher that you like and compliments your skin tone.
Apply blush on the area of your cheekbones, not on the apples of your cheek because this will give you a higher and lifted effect.
Start from the side of your face and work your way to the centre.
If your concealed areas happen to fall on the cheeks, use a light dabbing motion to pack the powder onto your skin instead of swiping them away.
For a more defined look, contour your hollows of your cheeks. Contouring helps to sculpt the face and adds dimension to our skin. It can also help to give the illusion of a “slimmer” face because it acts as a shadow effect.
Use a brush and work your way from the side of the face to the centre. If you are unsure where your hollows of your cheeks are located, suck both sides of your cheeks together.
Lightly dab onto the skin for concealed areas and blend the harsh lines away.
If you want to give additional definition to your face, you can also contour the sides of your nose for a slimmer nose and the bottom of your lips for a poutier look.
Highlighting adds shine back to the skin to give a dewy look, especially if you’ve a matte looking face. Light that hits the highlighted areas will reflect and gives the illusion of a much sculpted and defined face.
Hightlighting the cheekbones will make the the cheeks look much higher, and highlighting the bridge of the nose will make it look taller than it’s supposed to be.
Use a cream based highlighter and gently dab onto the areas you want to highlight. Then set it with a highlighter powder.

About The Brand
LB Cosmetics is a new makeup brand from Japan. First launched in July 2014 in Singapore, it is now available exclusively in Watsons. The products from LB Cosmetics are made in Korea, and claims to bring you high quality eco-friendly products with affordable price range from $16.90 to $22.90.
LB stands for “LadyBird”, which the Europeans believe that it is a symbol of blessings and good luck.
In all of my future makeup reviews, they will be accompanied by step-by-step photos on how to achieve a certain look instead of makeup swatches. So let’s get started!
As the name suggests, Gorgeous Eyes in Gold is a versatile palette of 4 shimmery shadows that can take you from day to night time.
Shade 01 and 02 are fine, non pigmented glittery eyeshadow in white and gold. They are ideal for subtle highlighting of brow bones and inner corners of the eyes.
Shade 03 and 04 are rich and pigmented shades of gold. Both contains fine, smooth shimmer.
Colours can be picked up better by using natural fibre brushes instead of the synthetic ones.
After your foundation routine, colour the entire lid with shade 03 as the base colour of your eyes.
Take shade 02 and layer on top of shade 03, where the crease line is located, and blend them out to achieve a nice gradient.
Then take the darkest shade of the palette (shade 04) and colour the “outer-V” of your eyes.
Blend out the harsh line with a blending brush.
Use shade 01 to highlight the “inner-V” of the eyes to brighten up the inner corners of the eyes.
Use the LB Creamy Gel Eyeliner in Khaki to line the eyes. The eyeliner contains glitter and can be used as an eyeliner or double up as a shadow colour.
If you are going for the party look, smudge the eyeliner for a smokey eye look. Then extend and wing the eyeliner, and set the eyeliner with Shade 04.
You can also draw a thin line and tight line the eyelid, then set it with Shade 03 for a subtler day time look (see variation 02).
Finish off with your favourite mascara or false eyelashes.
If you are going for the smokey eye look, pair it with a light/nude lipstick colour so that the focus will be on your eyes instead.
The LB Jewel Water Rouge is a semi sheer lip colour that is non drying on the lips. When used with a concealer, the lipstick goes on semi-matte.
For the popular gradient lip makeup, layer it with an orange lipstick/lip stain (see variation 02).
Tip: If you want a subtle colour on your cheeks that matches with your lip colour, apply lipstick on your fingertips and dab it on your cheeks.
Gorgeous Gold Eyeshadow Palette: ♡♡♡♡♡ (4 Stars Overall)
I love the eyeshadow colours shade 03 and 04 because they are fine and pigmented colours. The gradients also look great when you use all the colours together. They don’t contain huge glitters and fallouts are very minimal. However, all the colours do not get picked up easily by a sponge tip applicator or synthetic brushes.
Creamy Gel Eyeliner: ♡♡♡♡♡ (4 Stars Overall)
Long Lasting Finish: ♡♡♡
Gorgeous colour, really nice shimmer. It’s a wearable colour on a daily basis. However I find it a little creamy, but when it dries it doesn’t give me a long lasting finish that can resist smearing.
Jewel Water Rouge: ♡♡♡♡♡ (3.7 Stars Overall)
Staying Power: ♡♡♡
Feel on Lips: ♡♡♡♡
I love the colour and how it does not completely dry out my lips like some other lipstick does. It is also build-able, something which I love about. However, it is a little too sheer and not long lasting enough for my liking.
Sorry for the lack of posts for the past few weeks! I’ve been really really busy because of school and work!
Anyway, my birthday is coming in a few days time (it’s october again, yay!) so my boyfriend decided to get me some cosmetics from Estee Lauder <3.
Initially I only wanted the Double Wear foundation because it’s too awesome and they’ve relaunched it in a new formula, so I thought, “why not?”. BUT… Estee Lauder launched this Limited Edition Premiere Color Set, worth $800 but now you can get it at just $108 with any purchase of $120.
Pretty awesome deal I must say, because the most items in the set are full size products:
A closer look at the products:
Estee Lauder Primiere Color Set:
1. Deluxe Eyeshadow Compact
2. Deluxe All-over face compact
3. Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in 01 Crystal Baby Creme, 03 Crystal Pink Creme and 54 Passionfruit Shimmer
4. Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipgloss in 46 Sunburst Sparkle
6. Mini Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara in 01 Black
7. Mini Double Wear Stay In Place Eye Pencil in 01 Onyx

9. Advanced Time Zone Night Age Reversing Line/Wrinkle Creme
10. Estee Lauder Take it Away Gentle Eye and Lip Longwear Makeup Remover

12. A red case
I absolutely love the stuff in the set because the colors were very pretty and pigmented.
I’ve included some swatches (it’s impossible to swatch every single colour because I’m writing this in a rush).
The lippies smells very fruity and smooth. They were a little light in colour but the color is very buildable.

The Deluxe All Over Face Compact features a 4 colour blush, in both peach and pink tones. I find that the colors suit fair skin a lot.
From left: 15 Blushing Nude, 08 Peach Passion, 01 Pink Tease and 05 Pink Ingenue
The Deluxe Eyeshadow Compact is an 18 color palette with satin, matte and shimmering textures. The colours are very pigmented, and the shimmers aren’t glittery at all!
From left: 01 Ivory Slipper SATIN, 66 Candy Crave SATIN, 67 Lilac Whimsy SATIN, 47 Nude Fresco SATIN
From Left: 23 Berry Burst SHIMMER, 09 Amethyst Spark SHIMMER, 45 Lavish Mink MATTE, 12 Wild Truffle MATTE
All in all, this is a very worthwhile purchase. Do get it quick before it is gone!
Singaporean girls should be no strangers to K-Palette, a cosmetic brand famous for its “1 Day Tattoo” eye cosmetics.
Personally I am a great fan of K-Palette’s brow and eye liners as they are very lasting and natural looking.
Therefore, I was very excited to attend K-Palette’s ‘Sweet as Chocolate’ campaign, a launch on its new Real Lasting Eyeliner in Deep Brown (waterproof) colour and their newly improved formula this fall.
A picture of my sister and I wearing K-Palette’s brow and eye liners
Launched in Singapore in 2007, K-Palette has received numerous awards for its products annually. K-Palette’s 24h Real Lasting Eyeliner is one of the best-selling liquid eyeliner in Japan.
They have since expanded their range of eye makeup to include brow liners, eye pencils, mascaras and concealers.
New Improved Formula
K-Palette has improved on their existing formula to ensure eye liners and pencils dry instantly, which means no more panda eyes from smudging or blinking. Additionally, eye liners and pencils are more lasting with strengthened resistance against water, sweat and sebum.
The new formula also added Hyaluronic acid Na, water soluble collagen and Swertia Japonica essence to take care of the delicate area around our eyes during application.
There was a live demonstration by Ms Aya Umehara, a professional makeup artist with over 12 years of experiences in the beauty industry, on achieving different makeup looks using K-Palette’s brown eye makeup products.
Ms Umehara said that sultry and sexy eye makeup can be better achieved by using K-Palette’s Real Lasting Eyeliner in Deep Brown (waterproof) as brown eyeliners look less harsh on our eyes than black eyeliners.
Additionally our eyes can also look sexier when the upper liner and the lower liner are not joined together (as shown in the picture below).
We also attempted to use K-Palette’s products to create makeup looks on paper.
Swatches of K-Palette’s eyeshadow palette. It comes in four different colours which users are able to create a natural day time eye makeup or a sexy smoke eye.
Where to buy?
K-Palette’s new Real Lasting Eyeliner in Deep Brown (waterproof) can be found at selected Sasa, BHG and Watsons stores from August 2013 onwards, retailing at S$19.90.
The Real Lasting Eyepencil and 2-Way Eyebrown Liner can also be found at selected Sasa, BHG and Watsons stores, retailing at S$25.90 and S$23.90 respectively.

I was invited by L’Oreal Paris Singapore to try out their latest Lucent Magique series! I must say that this latest range of highlighter/concealer, foundation and primer is by far the best over-the-counter cosmetics! You seriously have to get them.
Sis and I at the launch!
The Lucent Magique range is the latest innovation by L’Oreal Paris! Lucent Magique is the first skin transforming makeup line ever created by an over-the-counter cosmetic brand.
This range promises to give you a radiant and flawless looking complexion. It consists of a foundation, BB cream, highlighter and primer. The BB cream was launched a while ago but not the others!
Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation – $32.90
The Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation uses 40% pure water in its formula to give you a sheer, lightweight and hydrated finish, and also provides you with a light-medium coverage.
Its formula gives you 33% more radiance, as compared to traditional foundations.
The foundation will also suit every skin tone with the 6 different shades available. Below is a swatch of the primer and the foundation’s lightest tones N2 and R2:
Swatches of the Lucent Magique foundation’s lightest shade.
R2 is lighter than N2 but it is slightly pinkish, hence most fair Asian would suit N2 better. Even though N2 looks a little dark, but it is actually lighter when spread out.
Notice how my skin looked death pale with R2 on my skin than N2?
Most bloggers have fair skin and picked N2 as it suited our skin tone better and looked more natural.
Lucent Magique Primer – $24.90
The primer is a whitish, pearly liquid that turns transparent upon application. The primer would enhance the light reflection on your skin for a 3D sculpted look. Use it alone for a subtle glow on your cheeks and T-zone area, or under the foundation for a long lasting hold.
Lucent Magique Touch of Light Pen – $22.90
This pen works as both a highlighter and a concealer. It can help to highlight cheekbones, nose bridge, enhance lip pout, brighten tired eyes and plump expression lines (laugh lines) to achieve a flawless complexion.
The Touch of Light pen has only 2 shades available – Light and Fair. Light works very well as an under-eye concealer and highlighter of the cheekbones and nose bridge to enhance my facial features.
All these three products from Lucent Magique are currently my HG products! I’ve been using them everyday!
Everything can be photoshopped including the glow of our skin, but photoshopped glow can never look like radiant skin taken under the sunlight.
There were also makeup demonstration that taught us how to use the Lucent Magique range:
Here’s a video of how to pro do it:
Additionally, we were also given the nail art sticker for trial!
The nail art sticker has 6 fashionable designs in total and are very easy to use! The video below teaches you how to achieve beautifully manicured nails without the pain of applying messy nail polish!
I tried it myself at home and here’s the result:
It has extras for certain nail sizes and therefore you can redo your nails if you make mistakes.
The downside of this product is that not everyone’s nail size are the same width, hence fitting can be quite a pain.
The Lucent Magique range is now available! For more information, visit L’Oreal Paris Singapore’s facebook page!
Recently L’Oreal also launched their latest L’Oreal Paris moodboard on their page where you can create your own moodboard, and then upload a cover photo using those pictures in your board! You get to stand a chance to win $300 worth of prizes weekly. The grand winner will win a Samsung NX100 camera worth $799.
